This week is a Doomtree week. During my run yesterday I had The Grand Experiment on repeat and got struck with a bit of inspiration.

Do your musical tastebuds flip-flop around as much as mine do? On a daily basis I'll go from Doomtree and Atmosphere over to Jack Johnson and Ingrid Michaelson and do a 180 onto Metric and Minus the Bear. Maybe a tune of the country variety will sneak in here or there. I can cover the whole musical spectrum in an eight hour work day no problem.
If you happen to walk by my office, you'll probably notice me bouncing along to the beat. But since my back is to the door and you can't tell my headphones are in, I probably just look like I'm crazy...
I'm not exactly sure how I found The Best Pessimist earlier this week, but I'm glad I did. Great chill instrumental stuff. I've been streaming it on Grooveshark at work the past couple of days along with some Kings of Leon.

Jaymay makes up a good chunk of the soundtrack from HappyThankYouMorePlease. And since that movie seems to be my favorite of the week, I figured I would share the music from it. It definitely has that indie movie sound, similar to the songs from Juno.
This year I am literally dreaming of a white Christmas. It's so brown outside. How gorgeous are these winter wonderland photos? Definitely make me want to hear the crunch of a little snow under my shoes. And then if it wants to melt after New Years it can. I would be okay with that.

Last weekend when I was in the Cities, Marlon had Doomtree's new CD "No Kings" going in his car. Now I'm hooked, as it usually happens when I get re-introduced to Doomtree and Dessa.

I got addicted to the song "Young Blood" after hearing it on a commercial for Property Brothers. And then after watching old episodes of Chuck I realized it was on there too. Then I started listening to more from The Naked and Famous and fell in love with their sound. Check 'em out. Good stuff to rock out to during those long days in the office.
Rockin' some Imelda May this week. Getting in some great 1950's sounds floating through the apartment with the wonderful smell of fresh made pumpkin pie (try 2, which is a success).
I'm making the 3 1/2-ish hour trek to the homeland this weekend. Maybe I'll try out the Blogger mobile thing I've been meaning to test out. Meh, we'll see. I'll be taking some family photos while I'm home. It should be fun. I'm excited to be behind the camera again shooting something besides trees and leaves.
I think in my past life I was like a 50's/60's housewife to an Ad Man. It's only makes sense right? A love for design, baking, and cooking. Definitely makes sense.
At the Farmer's Market on Saturday I bought three cute little pumpkins. There is currently a homemade pumpkin pie baking in my oven. And then I discovered I still had leftover apples that I picked from the apple tree outside my work. So I made applesauce. And with the leftover cream from the pie, I added some honey and made whipped honey butter.
Oh, I also roasted the pumpkin seeds. Mmmmmmm. My apartment smells strongly of cinnamon, nutmeg, and pumpkin. The great scents of fall.
Sweet & Salty Pumpkin Seeds
1 c. pumpkin seeds, washed and dried
1 tbs. melted butter
1 tbs. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
Preheat oven to 300. Spray baking sheet with cooking spray.
Spread pumpkin seeds out on sheet and back for 50-60 minutes until dry.
Toss seeds with butter, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Spread out on pan again and put back in oven for 5-10 minutes until crisp and crunch.
Let cool and store in an air tight container.
If you have a pumpkin laying around. Definitely make these. Sweet and salty, delicious snack. And while they're baking, have a dance party to this classic.
I was jammin' to Mayer Hawthorne all afternoon at work today. I found his single, "No Strings Attached" as the free iTunes single of the week. The random time I check it out I find something I really enjoy. I like his classic, retro sound. I may or may not have been dancing a bit to it while making Pumpkin Caramel Rolls...
I have been listening to Jay Nash and Cailtin Crosby's EP "Crosby, Skills, & Nash" a lot lately. They've got a slight country vibe to them. Easy listening stuff, easy to work too. Love "We Are Wood Ships," good song.
Country music reminds me of summer. Kind of like how jazz reminds me of Christmas. These are probably 3 of my favorites at the moment. And yeah, Jason Aldean and Ludacris may be a goofy collaboration, but I really like that version.
Back to editing some more Como Zoo photos and watching Tangled.
Just a couple of songs that came on my iPod while I went for a run that made the time go by faster. It's been awhile since I've posted any tunes. Have to keep a good stash of upbeat stuff for when the sudden urge to go for an evening run emerges.
Since I haven't posted any Tuesday Tunes recently, I figure I should give ya a little something to listen to. How about some Lupe Fiasco? Okay.

Tomorrow is my last day working at Digi-Key! This week has gone by so fast, but it's also been a lot of fun. Can't believe it's almost time for this door to close (but not all the way...) and another to open. That's life. It just keeps going whether you're ready for it to or not.
