HappyThankYouMorePlease

How many of you are How I Met Your Mother fans? I'm sure a good number of you are. Did you know the actor that plays Ted Mosby has also written and directed a movie? It's called HappyThankYouMorePlease.

It's a feel good movie about trying to figure life out and find what's meant to be along the way. There's a line in the movie that stuck out to me:
"Sadness be gone, let’s be people who deserve to be loved, who are worthy, cause we are worthy."
How true is that? And not just in the sense of find the love of your life, but allowing yourself to be loved by your friends, your family, and more importantly- yourself.

If you haven't seen it, you should.

Minimal Movie Posters

My choices look like they were picked out by a middle schooler...How absolutely fantastic is that Chuck poster? I want to buy it.

Head over to Minimal Movie Posters and check out all the great posters. I could spend hours looking through them all. I love minimal design. I think there's something so intriguing about it. Proves you don't need a lot of flashy do-dads to make a pleasing, eye catching design.

Boo-ya.

The Start of Something...

I'm starting a 30 day challenge for myself. As I was browsing around Facebook today, I stopped to admire Design Army's Color Consumption album. Everyday they post a color palette of 2 colors. So my challenge to myself is to create 30 color palettes using 3 colors. Marlon's calling it "Natalia's Revenge: Revisiting Color Theory." (Natalia was our color theory professor in college. One tough lady to take a class from.)

Remember the Titans was on tonight. I forgot how much I absolutely LOVE this movie. I'm not a big football fan nor do I really get emotional enough during movies to shed a tear, but man, this show brings me close to it. Right up there with The Blind Side.

It kind of makes you reflect on how far we've come as a society since 1971 and how far we have yet to go in order to make this world an even better place to live in.

Gorgeous Colors of Princess and the Frog

Disney nerd, sittin' right here. Every time I watch Princess and the Frog I just admire the use of color more and more. Simply fantastic.

Such bright, vivid colors! I love the jazzy, blues music in the movie too.

Epic Summer Movie

I have a lot of dream jobs...One of them is a behind the scenes photographer on movie sets and/or a graphic designer who does marketing for movies.

On Tuesday I saw Transformers: Dark of the Moon with some friends. It was EPIC. I love the Transformers movies. The 3D animations are awesome. Industrial Light and Magic are geniuses. Good looking cars are in pretty much every scene...and some good looking guys too ;) If you haven't seen it yet- Do It.

This is why Michael Bay is awesome. Probably one of my favorite scenes from the movie.

I will admit, even though I'm not a big fan of her, I like Megan Fox as the leading lady in this series. Didn't like the new girl as much. What can ya do...

To be that good at 3D modeling, lighting, and animating...Takes a lot of patience and a lot of time.

The Tale of Three Brothers

First off, how fantastic are these wedding invites?!

Super creative and unique. Love it.
Images from A Beautiful Mess

Secondly, I am a huge Harry Potter fan. Have ever since I was like...12 or something. I'm sad that the series is slowly coming to a final end with the final part of the 7th movie coming out this summer. I grew up with the books and the movies. Pa and I like having series of movies to go to like HP and Lord of the Rings. I guess we will have to find something else now...

When the first Deathly Hallows came out in the theaters, I absolutely fell in love with this scene, the story about the Three Brothers and the Deathly Hallows. I think the animation is fantastic and well done.

Excuse the quality. The better one wasn't showing up in Blogger's YouTube thing...

This weekend I went down to Fargo. I picked up my bridesmaid dress, spent time with the fam, and purchased a lot more than I should have. But, I did find some good stuff. I took tons of pictures for a type study I've started. I got lots of walking in. Drove lots. Got lost once. Trains were the death of me this weekend. Finally got my new curtains Ma was fixing up for me. We got clever when we didn't want to spend a ton on fabric.

It looks like it will be a week full of stuff to blog about. Plus, last week I was digging around in my photos and found some of the vintage magazines I took like a month ago while at home that I forgot to fix up and post. Good thing I have plenty to do because my bank account is dry...

Oh, and Mother Nature thinks it's fun to tease Minnesota with a week of awesome weather. It snowed on Friday. It's supposed to snow tomorrow. And again on Wednesday. Ridiculous. I want some of that sun back. I would also like an extra day added to this weekend. No? Okay, fine. I'll go to work tomorrow.

Finally, I would like to share this link with you. I found Saturday morning right before I left. It is a blog post by Moorea entitled "On Beauty + Bullying: Paint Your Love." If you have ever been made fun of for looking a certain way, you aren't alone. I don't understand why people feel the need to judge other's for how they look. We are all human and we are all different. And that's the beauty of it. I'm glad there are people out there who are willing to share their stories to help others...It inspires me to one day tell mine.

Printing

I'm currently in the screen printing studio working always with Marlon doing our printing. We've been in here since 1 or so and we are just getting to the heart of the process. We've got a system down and we are just cranking out print after print. It's amazing. Hopefully we will have time to do everything we planned on with only a dayish left the of the weekend.

Last night we watched Despicable Me. It was pretty good. My favorite part was definitely the minions and I want one.

Alright, back to work.

A Little Bit of Disney's Tangled

The artwork for the end credits of Tangled? Well, it is now out on DVD and being the huge Disney/animation nerd I am, I went out and bought it. And the artwork at the end is fantastic.

I just love the ink and watercolor look. It's a nice compliment to the bright full colors of the movie.

Also found out The Lion King will be coming out of the Disney Vault this fall. SO STOKE. It's one of my absolutely favorites.

Now...I must got attempt to be productive in the last few hours of the day. I have things and stuff to accomplish. It's only Tuesday and I've been a-slackin'.

Pascal the Chameleon

He's my new favorite! Plus Tangled is just amazing all together. It's coming out on DVD March 29th! Excited.

How freakin' cool is he?
He makes me want a pet chameleon.

Best. Sidekick. Ever.

I love Disney. I want to work there. How awesome would that be?

King of the Mountain...

Mountain...Mountain...

I've had this little doodle tacked to my bulletin board for quite some time now for an Out Cold poster. I'm not sure what came over me tonight but after cleaning I looked at it and just sat down and worked.

If you haven't seen the movie you should. It's hilarious. The storyline is about a bunch of crazy kids who are trying to save the mountain they work and snowboard at from being taken over by a corporate big shot.

Don't like how the design stuff I upload turns fuzzy...

It's pretty simple. Nothing too complex. I think this would make a sweet screen print.

This is my absolute FAVORITE scene from the movie. I laugh for quite some time after watching this.
I also really want to do this to somebody one day..

Here is the clip the poster is based off of.
"And most important: Pushing, shoving, and cheating are encouraged."

I tried snowboarding once. I was pretty much saying, "Don't wipe out. Don't wipe out. Don't wipe out. Here I go, baby!" the whole time. Boy, did I wipe out good a few times. For the next couple of days I was extremely sore. Haven't tried it since. Maybe I should...

Curiouser and Curiouser

I am watching one of my favorite movies, the newer Alice in Wonderland. There are so many things I like about this movie: the animations, the costumes, the message. There is one quote after a rant that Alice goes on to Bayard and she says, "This is my dream. I will decide where to go from here. I make the path." In the movie, Alice's fate is to slay the Jabberwocky. She believes she is the wrong Alice and she can make her own fate. But in the end, of course, she ends up slaying it (sorry for the spoiler if you haven't seen the movie.) It got me thinking about fate and where our lives are supposed to go. Here is what I came up with:

"Fate is fate. We will all end up exactly where we are supposed to be. Just the path we chose to get there is up to us."

I guess I am just a strong believer in fate and that I will end up where I am supposed to. I just decide at any given point if I want to take Path A, Path B, Path C, etc. It's like one big gave of Shoots and Ladders. Some paths will get us there quicker than others, some we will end up going backwards for a little bit and having to keep plugging away.

BUT on a lighter note, the whole reason why I decided to watch Alice in Wonderland was because of these bad boys:

I discovered these back in college and fell in love with them...then forgot about them today when I rediscovered them. They just scream Alice in Wonderland to me. And I want one. Really want one. They are from Dust Furniture.

I also really love the costumes from the movie that Mia Wasikoska gets to wear:

I discovered an amazing song today by Josh Hoge featuring (a favorite) Caitlin Crosby.

"A picture of something that you love."

Life. Simply said.

I made cinnamon rolls today (probably post a recipe later this week) and started a new crochet bag (even though I haven't finished my first one yet.) I am working on trying not to spend money and keep my bank accounts afloat. I also, was a weekend ahead of myself all week, thinking I was going home next weekend when I am not. Oops, my bad.

Tomorrow is Monday. Back to work...

:)
